Age ratings WINTERTHUR & ZURICH

As a rule, only persons aged 16 and over are granted admission to public film screenings. The Youth Film Office for the canton of Zurich lowers the age of admission for suitable films. Please note the minimum age for each category as prescribed by law:

SB - 4

Minimum legal age: 4 years. Children under 6 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Screenings that begin after 9:00 pm require the presence of an adult.

K6 - 6

Minimum legal age: 6 years. Children are recommended to be accompanied by an adult. Screenings that begin after 9:00 pm require the presence of an adult.

K8 - 8/6

Minimum legal age: 6 years, recommended 8 years and over. Children are recommended to be accompanied by an adult. Screenings that begin after 9:00 pm require the presence of an adult.

K10 - 10/6

Minimum legal age: 6 years, recommended 10 years and over. Children are recommended to be accompanied by an adult. Screenings that begin after 9:00 pm require the presence of an adult.

 

J12 - 12

Minimum legal age: 12 years. Screenings that begin after 9:00 pm require the presence of an adult.

J14 - 14/12

Minimum legal age: 12 years, recommended 14 years and over. Screenings that begin after 9:00 pm require the presence of an adult.

E - 16

Minimum legal age: 16 years.

Generally speaking, admission to films ending after midnight is only permitted for persons aged 18 and over. An adult is defined as any person that has reached the age of majority (18 years old).
